Paphos Lighthouse

05/01/18 Another bright day but with the sea coming over the wall at the harbour we decided to have a walk around the Lighthouse area missing out the coastal walk. There were no surprises finding only the normal resident and over wintering birds for the area.

Woodlark (Lullula arborea)
Crested Lark (Galerida cristata)

New Years Day Birding in Paphos

01/01/18 New Years Day was bright and sunny so could not resist to get out and blow a few cobwebs away. We were surprised to see two Hawfinch in Marathounta and a distant Griffon Vulture towards Dora. At Episkopi with limited water running in the Ezousas river another find was a Common Snipe. We moved onto the abandoned village of Phinikas at the distant end of Asprokremnos Dam where there were two Finsch's Wheatear, a male Blue Rock Thrush and plenty of Meadow Pipit feeding.
